    IAFF Local 1687 

    Union Meeting March 1st, 2022

    Meeting was called to order at 1800 hours with 15 members present. 

    Todd said last month’s union meeting minutes were posted on the website along with the financial report. Sergio made a motion to not read last month’s union meeting minutes or the financial report since they had already been posted on the website. This motion was seconded by Richie. Motion passed unanimously.

    Committee Reports:

    Fitness committee 

    Richie related the Chief had approved a purchase for more dumbbells for the weight room.  And made sure to remind everyone to keep the weight room clean and pick up after you and your crews after yourself. Nothing further. 

    Safety Committee 

    Nobody was present from the safety committee and no members present had any safety concerns or issues. 

    EMS Committee

    Jaquez related that the EMS Committee was approached by EMS Division Chief Souza about replacing all the lifepack cardiac monitors on the ambulances with the new Zoll monitors. The county approached the department saying they would foot the bill to replace all the cardiac monitors with the zolls as well as the lucas CPR machines with auto pulses. Which the Committee and Fire Admin agreed to the change. So soon all cardiac monitors will be replaced with the zolls and all lucas CPR machines will be replaced with the auto pulses. Jaquez went on to add that there will be new and updated EMS Guidelines coming out soon as well as training to go over them and the subsequent changes. Nothing else.

    Nothing 

    Fund Raising 

    Nothing new for fundraising. 

    Old Business

    Hensen made a motion to Brad Henson made a motion requesting to hire a vendor to design and create station logos for each station. So, we can then use those logos to put on shirts, patches, stickers etc. Hensen spoke with a firefighter owned vendor that is willing to design and make the logos for each station. The vendor is Job Town Graphics. The price that Henson got a quote for was 6 logos (stations) for $250 each for a total of $1,500 to be paid. 

    This motion was seconded by Jaquez and put to a vote with 15 members present and passed unanimously. This motion will be posted for 30 days and be put up for a vote for final approval on April’s union meeting. Nothing else for old business. 

    New Business

    Todd updated the union body that we will be meeting with City Admin soon to start, and we will be updating the union body of progress in the upcoming days.  Nothing new to discuss on new business. 

    Hensen made a motion to adjourn seconded by Sergio this motion passed unanimously, and meeting adjourned at 1940 hours.
